It all started in the Summer of 2012, when I joined Northants Tri club after having watched my dad race triathlon growing up, I decided, I wanted to give it a go. I would train once a week with the tri club which would involve a run session on the grass and then we would head to the pool for an hour swim session with the coach. I combined this with other sports such as football, rugby and cricket which kept me busy and fit. My weekends consisted of a football match on Sunday morning, getting changed in the car and heading straight off to somewhere in the East Midlands for a Triathlon race.

I competed in my first triathlon in 2013 at a local event in Brackley after having already raced Iron Kids Bolton in 2012 and the Challenge Barcelona junior event, whilst my dad competed. In 2015, I went on to win Iron kids Staffordshire.

Mental side – Having belief in my ability, knowing what achievements I have had previously and strength of mind to know that I can be better and the belief that it will all come together eventually, as long as I keep showing up and continue to enjoy what I am doing.

The reasoning behind my event choices has been to gain experience and learn my craft, whilst having the long-term aim of qualifying for the 70.3 World Championships next year in Marbella. I tried to pick a few different types of flat/rolling/hilly courses, so that it can help me to identify any weaknesses that can be worked on.
